Liz spent the first half of her career in front a computer. As an M&A analyst, then internal hedge fund security analyst with First Boston in the 1980s, Liz was on the leading edge of Wall Street’s boom in quantitative analysts. In the early 90’s, Liz joined Oppenheimer Funds: After managing mutual funds for a short-time, she decided she wanted to use her experience and expertise to more directly help people achieve their financial goals. Liz went on to become managing director and the head of equity research for Trevor, Stewart, Burton & Jacobsen, where she managed and advised institutional and individual clients.
Liz shares, “I went to Wall Street with my Wharton classmates and thrived on the intensity. As I learned to select and manage investments, I loved that my success was easily measured by portfolio performance. But once I grabbed that brass ring, I looked around and realized I wanted to be part of the good that can be spread with financial expertise. Shortly after I started managing portfolios for individuals and families, they started asking me other questions related to many of the planning issues that successful families face. They would share that their accountant or attorney had brought up a planning topic, but sent them to me for the next discussion. This is when I realized so many successful people are left to coordinate all their professionals by themselves in a quest for the best solutions. In 2008, I decided to launch a firm dedicated to identifying and understanding all the wealth needs of clients and then helping them achieve their goals by managing their portfolios and coordinating the best advice from all their professionals.”
Liz is a member of the editorial advisory board for Trusts and Estates Magazine. She currently serves as Vice President of the Alumni Board of the Sphinx Society of the University of Pennsylvania, Treasurer of the Essex Skating Club of NJ, and sits on the External Advisory Board of NJIT. Liz is a member of the CFA Institute, the Financial Planners Association (FPA), the National Speaker’s Association (NSA) and Women’s President Organization (WPO). Liz journeys to The Chautauqua Institution every summer to teach classes that allow for both teaching and a sharing of experiences and ideas among a variety of participants.
In addition to earning numerous industry awards, such as the 2017 and 2018 Five Star Wealth Manager recognizing top advisors for the highest in service and overall satisfaction, Liz is the author of “Clutter-Free Wealth: A Goal-oriented Guide to Gaining Control of your Affluence.” She is regularly quoted and featured in the media as a strategist and market expert for The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News & World Report, CNBC, MarketWatch, and Financial Planning Magazine.
Liz received a B.S. in economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. from Columbia University.

Elaine Lee, CFP®
Wealth Management Advisor
Elaine joined Summit Place in 2016 after spending several years with a nearby firm. Elaine was drawn to our unique approach to wealth management, offering our clients comprehensive financial expertise along with concierge service. This approach resonated with her as she looked back on her earlier executive career in which she saw so many executives missing the value of a qualified advisor.
Elaine shares, “As my parents came to the ‘land of opportunity,’ it was ingrained in me that obtaining a good education was paramount and delaying gratification was a virtue. With this mindset, I spent my first paycheck wisely but also saved for my future. Years later, as the president and chief operating officer working with global brands, I was executing strategic growth plans and managing multi-million dollar budgets. Looking back, I wish I had a trusted professional helping guide my personal financial decisions when I was an executive. I was strapped for time and didn’t have the expertise to manage and grow my wealth or make strategic investment decisions to achieve my long-term goals. There’s a huge opportunity cost associated with not taking advantage of all the financial planning disciplines as you are accumulating your wealth. Investments, risk management, taxation, retirement and estate planning all work together to make sure you are preparing for your long-term goals; I’ve realized this is essential for successful executives.”
Having the opportunity to lead companies as president and chief operating officer, Elaine decided to take her business acumen and life experience to help people achieve their life goals. As a former executive, she understands the challenges of balancing a demanding career and family. As a CFP®, she adds value for her clients by helping them make sound decisions on complex financial matters.
Elaine is a member of the Financial Planners Association (FPA) and the Elks Lodge. She volunteers for Dress For Success where she is on the Professional Women’s Group committee. Elaine earned her B.S. in business administration and marketing from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Currently, she resides in Morris County with her husband and two daughters.
